“Absolutely shameful”: Local paper slated after Dubravka story – What are they playing at here?

These are the words on the front of the Chronicle this morning – an article that several Newcastle fans aren’t happy with whatsoever today.

The Chronicle have a big influence on all NUFC matters and headlines like this just promote fickleness – not to mention how Dubravka himself would feel reading it; especially when there’s a VERY valid argument to suggest he was actually fouled for Wolves’ goal.

Their piece doesn’t slate Dubravka, but at a time where some short sighted and fickle ‘supporters’ are calling for his head, the @ChronicleNUFC had a duty to do a “Let’s back Dubravka!” article – not one that suggests it could be time to drop him.

He’s been here just over a year now and I honestly can’t remember a big error of his other than the last two goals he’s conceded.

They’ve written so many pieces defending Perez’s place in the team even through periods where he’s been consistently poor, yet Dubravka makes two errors in a week (albeit big ones) and they strongly suggest he needs dropping.

I’m not sure what the Chronicle are trying to achieve here.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s only right if questions are asked if he continues to make costly errors over the coming weeks, but you don’t write a piece championing what an incredible signing he’s been last week and then promote the idea of him being dropped 1 error later.. “What’s next for Dubravka?” it says.
