Alan Shearer revealed his struggle to get fit after retiring from football as he launched a new fitness studio in Northumberland.

The Newcastle United hero officially opened the new Speedflex studio at No1 Gym in Ponteland, where he was put through his paces in a 30-minute class.

"I can't run because of the pressure and stress it puts on your joints.

A Speedflex session includes a combination of eight Speedflex machines and eight auxiliary stations.

Mr Ferris said: "“We’re absolutely thrilled to be partnering with No1 Gym.

Shearer is a longtime fan of Speedflex sessions, use hydraulic machine-based technology to offer a high intensity workout - without any crippling muscle pain afterwards.

“We’re especially excited because No1 is in Alan’s hometown of Ponteland, and we’re delighted he could be here for the launch.
