Here, NUFC Writer Chris Waugh runs through the seven key moments which he believes really helped shape Newcastle's season - for better, and for worse...

Newcastle United's 2018/19 campaign ended with a splendid 4-0 victory at Fulham, a result which perfectly summed up their season of boom and bust.

After a woeful start to the season, during which Rafa Benitez's men failed to win any of their first 10 Premier League games, the Magpies recovered after the turn of the year in order to finish the campaign very strongly.

Eventually, 45 points in total were secured, and Newcastle ended the campaign in 13th position in the Premier League table.

While Newcastle's campaign would eventually pick up, Kenedy's never did - and that spot-kick set the tone for his disappointing season-long loan spell.

There have been some woeful games involving Newcastle over the past few years, but this 0-0 draw against Cardiff City was one to rival even the very worst of them.

The Cardiff game was the match Benitez identified as the most 'winnable' during that period, and instead United's season simply could not get started.
