Blackpool manager Jimmy McPhillips has confirmed the Seasiders' interest in Newcastle United forward Elias Sorensen.

He is set to be a man in demand this month and when asked if Blackpool were interested in signing a forward this month, McPhillips said: “I hope so.

When asked about a loan exit for Sorensen, under-23s coach Ben Dawson said: "It has to be the right place to go on loan - you saw tonight some of the strengths he has and some of the areas where he has to develop.

We reported last week that the League One outfit were interested in signing the Danish forward, who has scored 19 goals for Newcastle's under-23s this season, on loan until the end of the season.

"He needs to play every week and the best place for him to go on loan is somewhere where there’s an experienced striker for him to learn from."

Sorensen's form has seen him rewarded with a new contract at Newcastle, while it has also attracted the attention of Denmark's under-21 side.

“We are interested in him (Sorensen), yes, but so are a number of other clubs so we won’t get too excited about that unless it happens."
