Kevin Gallacher believes the playing style of Callum Wilson reminds him of Newcastle United's record goalscorer Alan Shearer.

He reminds me very much of Alan Shearer in that respect.

Newcastle have lacked a go-to goalscorer in the last few seasons and they might just have found one - finally."

Gallacher spent two seasons playing alongside Shearer after signing from Blackburn Rovers in 1999, scoring three goals in 39 appearances in black-and-white.

The former Bournemouth striker sealed a £20m switch to Tyneside and scored on his United debut in the opening-day victory at West Ham on Saturday.

The former Scotland international is confident his former club may have finally landed the "go-to goalscorer" they have lacked since their recent return to the Premier League.

Gallacher reckons Wilson can also be a creative force for his United team-mates in a similar manner to the club's legendary former number nine.
