'He'd drive me mad' - Paul Robinson's verdict on Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson says Allan Saint-Maximin would 'drive him mad' if he was his team-mate.

England international Kyle Walker struggled to contain the French star during Newcastle's 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Saturday, while Premier League winner Pablo Zabaleta has not been seen in the West Ham United line up since struggling against him last month.

Saint-Maximin has been one of Newcastle's key players since joining from Nice in the summer and his pace, trickery and ability to beat a man have left Magpies fans purring.

“And I do think he forgets his defensive duties sometimes when he’s playing on the left-side of that midfield I think he has to be reminded of his role to track back.”

"I’d be on his case constantly because he’s so quick, he’s got such electrifying pace and he’s got such talent as well.

But Robinson, who kept goal for the likes of Leeds, Tottenham and Blackburn in the Premier League, believes he neglects his defensive responsibilities.

“But he just needs a little more composure with his decision-making, his final ball, as he has so much talent but his decision-making in the final third lets him down.
