Is It Time To Celebrate The Takeover – It’s Getting Close

Good news on the takeover last night as it looks like once again we are being told there is nothing to prevent the Premier league from blessing the Amanda Staveley-led acquisition, as even a day of around June 1st is being reported.

That’s very close to it being “next week,” which has been reported so many times in the past, but the good thing about this is there have now been multiple positive reports over the past week.

The reports are that the Premier League are finishing up their owners’ and directors’ test and have found nothing to stop the deal going through.

Time for a huge celebration?

Not quite, but maybe we can all relax a little and just think of the enormity of this for Newcastle United, the great City of Newcastle Upon Tyne, and most of all for our long-suffering and world-class fans.

They are the ones who are the life-blood of the club, and who have been held down, against our will, by Mike Ashley for a long and shameful 13 years.

Amanda Staveley – new Newcastle CEO?

But the handcuffs and leg-irons will come off once Amanda Staveley’s ambitious group start to take control.

Just think how interesting and exciting it’s all going to be to see the club being reformed from top to bottom under the regime.

Amanda has brought together the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund and also funds from her PCP Capital Partners Group and the Reuben brothers, to make the deal for £300M, in these difficult times.

It looks like Amanda Staveley will become the CEO for a while and will run the club day-to-day.

We are told the Governor of the Saudi Public Invest Fund, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, will become the Chairman and
Jamie Reuben (the son of David and the nephew of Simon) will be a Director on the new Board.

Ms. Staveley is also looking for a new manager to bring in and a new Director of Football, and we noticed there were signs that even Rafa Benitez could be returning to Newcastle.

It looks like the deal will go through but that we will need to remain patient (oh no!) for about another 10 days.
