Jamal Lascelles takes a tumble, Ciaran Clark loves a header and do not watch Newcastle in the second half - SIX THINGS YOU MISSEDChelsea strengthened their grip on the top four with a 2-1 win over NewcastlePedro broke the deadlock with a delicate chip before Ciaran Clark equalisedWillian scored the winner with a curling effort early in the second half

Chelsea strengthened their grip on the top four on Saturday as they edged past Newcastle 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Pedro broke the deadlock with a delicate chip before Ciaran Clark headed in an equaliser just before the break.

Willian scored the winner but Sportsmail have picked out six things you missed from the game.

Not Lascelles' day

Jamal Lascelles has probably had better evenings.

The Newcastle defender couldn't prevent his side conceding two goals and going six matches without a victory.

Then he ran into an advertising board and suffered a nasty gash on his knee. Just not his day.

Reliance on Rondon

Salomon Rondon's five league goals this campaign have been very important for Newcastle.

He has scored 33% of the Magpies' goals - only Aleksandr Mitrovic has a higher percentage (40%) for Fulham.

Brighton's Glenn Murray has also scored 33% of his side's goals this season.

Creative Luiz

David Luiz's exquisite pass set up Pedro for Chelsea's opening goal at Stamford Bridge.

That was the Brazil international's second assist in his last three Premier League games having set up N'Golo Kante against Crystal Palace at the end of December.

These two assists were a rarity, however, as Luiz had not set up a team-mate in 66 games prior to this run.

Clark loves a header

Ciaran Clark shocked Stamford Bridge when he headed in Newcastle's equaliser five minutes before the break.

That was Clark's second league goal of the season having scored against another top-six side in Arsenal in September.

Of players with at least 10 Premier League goals, only Ugo Ehiogu (84%) and David Wetherall (87%) have scored a higher percentage of their goals via their head than Ciaran Clark (83%).

Pass master Jorginho?

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has now completed 2000 passes in the Premier League.

The £57million summer signing has received criticism from Blues supporters this season for his lack of end product.

The fact Jorginho has completed more passes this season than any other Premier League player but hasn't registered an assist, seems to back that up.

Magpies missing second half bite

Once Chelsea went ahead in the second half through Willian's curling effort, you couldn't blame Newcastle supporters for switching off the TV.

Rafael Benitez's side have only scored four goals in the second half this season - the joint-worst in the league with bottom of the table Huddersfield.

The next on the list is Burnley with eight goals - who have struggled to score goals this campaign.
