Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron has made an incredible gesture in his native Paraguay to help the fight against the coronavirus.

But that has not stopped Almiron making a remarkable gesture back home to help medical services combat the disease.

Of the hand sanitiser donated, 100 litres was gifted to Acosta Ñu Children's Paediatric Hospital in San Lorenzo, with another 100 handed to the Regional Hospital of San Juan Bautista Misiones.

The Paraguayan international decided to donate 400 litres of hand sanitiser to three different medical facilities in his home country.

Demand for hand sanitiser has skyrocketed across the globe as medical advice has urged people to regularly wash their hands to slow the spread of the virus.

The country's authorities have declared a nationwide State of Sanitary Emergency, and a ban is in place on all non-essential movement nationwide until March 28.

The 26-year-old is currently training from home like the rest of his Magpies' team-mates after the club took the decision to close the training ground in the wake of the pandemic.
