Mike Ashley has reportedly met with two Mexican businessmen to discuss proposals to sell Newcastle United.

No other Premier League club is operating at such a low percentage of capacity.

The Orlegi Group, who own Mexican club Santos Laguna and are spearheaded by Alejandro Iraragorri, were considering Newcastle as a potential investment.

Newcastle have already had interest from Mexican club owners back in May, but it is not known whether these are the same party.

It means that St James’ Park has only been 89% full on average this season.

Ashley held a meeting in London last week, according to the Athletic , but the talks are believed to have come to nothing.

The Newcastle owner has been looking for investors to take over the club, but has so far failed to attract any serious offers.
