Newcastle takeover talks have once again broken down, as owner Mike Ashley struggles to agree a deal with potential suitors.

The Toon army were incensed when Rafa Benitez walked away from St. James' Park in the summer after a disagreement with club chiefs, and a lack of spending over the past 10 years has left them at odds with Ashley.

The Athletic have now claimed that although the billionaire met with two Mexican businessmen in London last week, talks fell apart and the club will remain under its current ownership for now.

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer unleashed a stunning rant on his former club when Benitez was set to leave before the current season started, with the Spaniard then replaced by Steve Bruce.

The former England skipper was far from happy with how the club was being run, and questioned some of their business decisions.

"Shearer told the Newcastle Chronicle:"It looks complete and utter chaos and the lack of communication from the club is embarrassingly bad. "Their world-class manager can walk away in a week's time for nothing."

"There is not a jot of thought for them even though they are the lifeblood of that football club."
