Lee Bowyer and Brian Kilcline are the latest names who have agreed to play for Newcastle United legends again in a fundraiser against Gateshead.

“I was up there for Steve Harper’s benefit game and got a great reception and I am looking forward to meeting the fans and giving Gateshead a good game.” Meanwhile Kilcline added: “I am looking forward to visiting Tyneside again.

“It will be great to pull on the black and white stripes of United again," said Bowyer, who's Charlton side are challenging Sunderland for League One promotion.

The Magpies XI take on the Tynesiders in April in a game designed to help generate transfer money for the National League side.

It is a great cause that we are reuniting for."

The likes of Peter Beardsley, Tino Asprilla, Ruel Fox and Lee Clark have already signed up to take part in the game later this year, and they will be joined by Bowyer and Kilcline.

Charlton Athletic boss Bowyer starred for the Magpies for three seasons, making 98 appearances between 2003 and 2006, scoring 11 goals, while Kilcline became a cult figure on Tyneside after helping Kevin Keegan's side fight off relegation from the old Division Two back in 1992.
