Ki Sung-Yueng has made some brutal but refreshingly honest comments about his struggle for game time under Steve Bruce – saying he is the only person to blame and ‘hasn’t performed well’.

Speaking about his struggles this season, his future, the fans and his time at the club, here’s what he’s had to say: “I don’t blame anyone because I haven’t performed well.

“Of course, there are a lot of reasons why I haven’t performed well but, at the end of the day, I haven’t performed well so I don’t blame anyone.. “If I go somewhere else, I’m still proud of Newcastle’ “It’s a big club for me and I really enjoy playing in front of a lot of passion.

With his contract due to expire in June, the midfielder will either leave this month or be released in the summer, with him making just one start all season in our defeat to Norwich back in August.

The South Korean has also had some kind words to say about our club and its supporters – despite things not quite going to plan for the 30-year-old since his arrival on Tyneside.

Unless he’s planning on a return to Sunderland that is!

There are a lot of players at NUFC that need clearing off the wage bill and Ki is one of them – but we would still like to wish him well wherever his next club may be.
