Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar has this week revealed that he is ‘very happy’ with life on Tyneside – but admits ‘you never know what can happen’ when asked about his future at the club.

“I am relatively easy to satisfy: If it is a good club, I am happy.

Speaking to a newspaper in his native country, the Swiss international spoke of how he has the support of the club and the fans at Newcastle, and believes he is a simple man to please.

“At the moment I am very happy.

“You never know what happens” Fabian certainly leaves the door open to a potential move, but it’s reassuring to hear that he is happy with life on Tyneside as things stand.

He is arguably the first name on the team-sheet, despite playing in the same position as captain Jamaal Lascelles, and should be handed a new deal if anything.

“Last summer was the first in a couple of years that I did not have to think about where to play now and what happens next and that felt good.” Schar has been arguably United’s best player since joining the club for a cut-price £3million at the beginning of last season.
