Newcastle United's FA Cup tie with Blackburn Rovers has been pushed back to a 5.30pm kick off - despite no plans for TV coverage in the UK.

The game has not been picked by either the BBC or BT Sports for live broadcast but the club have announced the kick off has been shifted from a 3pm start to facilitate international broadcasters.

United chiefs have apologised for the switch but it appears the FA have made the decision for them.

A statement from the Magpies read: "Newcastle United have been informed by the FA that our Emirates FA Cup Third Round game at home to Blackburn Rovers has been selected for international broadcast, and will now kick off at the later time of 5.30pm.

Rafa Benitez responds to Newcastle United takeover talk, insisting it is 'business as usual' "The tie – originally scheduled to kick off at 3pm on Saturday, 5 January – was not chosen for domestic broadcast by either the BBC or BT.

The blow may be softened for some fans by reduced admission prices of £10 and £5, however, prices on the day of the game will rise to £20 and £10.
