Newcastle United are lacking goals with £40 million man Joelinton struggling to find the net in the Premier League.

It means that attention has turned to who they could bring in this summer - and there are constant links to strikers.

Having signed Nabil Bentaleb, Valentino Lazaro and Danny Rose on loan last month - questions will also be asked about their futures.

United did not make a permanent signing, and did not make a cash signing in January - so there should be a transfer kitty to spend.

Hirving Lozano (Napoli)

According to Italian media, Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Hirving Lozano.

Napoli have offered Newcastle along with West Ham and Everton the chance to take the winger on loan with a permanent deal available in summer 2021.

Arena Napoli report claim there would be no loan fee but wages, reportedly £105,000 per-week, would have to be paid in full.

According to German media, Newcastle are considering Wolfsburg forward Wout Weghorst.

The Dutchman has hit 17 goals in 34 appearances so far this season.

BILD report that Wolfsburg would be open to an offer of £35m

Mandy Camara (Olympiacos)

According to Greek media Olympiacos midfielder Mady Camara.

The 23-year-old Guinea national has impressed as the Greek side won their first league title in three seasons earlier this month.

Patrik Schick (AS Roma)

The 24-year-old is on loan at RB Leipzig and has hit 10 goals in 22 appearances so far this season.

Various reports have linked both Newcastle and Everton to the Czech forward.

It's thought that Schick is open to staying at Leipzig.

Antoine Griezmann (Barcelona)

Italian media outlet Sport Media has linked Barcelona's Antoine Griezmann with a move to NUFC once a takeover is complete.

He moved to the Nou Camp last summer but has failed to impress - hitting only eight goals in 26 games.

Rafa Silva (Benfica)

The Magpies have been linked to 26-year-old Rafa Silva - who is said to be out of favour at Benfica.

The attacking midfielder, according to The Sun, was said to top the list additions for this summer - with hope that £15 million would be enough to bring him to Tyneside.

Sport Witness then reported the fee would have to be closed to £30 million.

Newcastle have been linked to the midfielder who Steve Bruce signed for Villa - and described as his 'best ever signing.'

05.03.20 - According to Turkish media outlet Turkiye, NUFC and Aston Villa are tracking Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sorloth who is on loan at Trabzonspor.

The forward has hit 25 goals this season.

United have been linked before but the new information in this report is the claim that Trabzonspor has the option to make Sorloth’s loan deal permanent for just €6m.


Crystal Palace signed striker Alexander Sørloth in January 2018 but the Norweigen international failed to pay back his £9 million fee in goals.

Shipped out on loan to Gent, and now Turkish side Trabzonspor - he's found goals easier to comeby.

The 24-year-old has hit 17 goals this season, and according to Turkish media outlet Fotospor, United have an interest in him.

French media outlet Buzz Sports claims that NUFC have an interest in Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson.

The report claims that NUFC’s good relationship with Puma could help them seal a move for the 25-year-old as he’s a key member for the company.

Reports claim that Newcastle United are one of several Premier League teams considering a short-term deal for Emmanuel Adebayor.

The former Arsenal, Spurs & Man City forward is a free agent, and reportedly wants one last crack at the top flight - and to hit the 100 goal mark in the league.

He's currently three goals away, and only eight from Didier Drogba's record of 104 - which would make the highest scoring African player in the PL.

At 35, it would be very out of character for NUFC.

Franck Kessie & Hakan Calhanoglu (AC Milan)

It’s been a morning of links to AC Milan midfielders - and the Italian press are now pushing Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie in the direction of United.

This morning it was Hakan Calhanoglu - but reports also claim Kessie is available for the right price.

Danny Rose (Tottenham)

A fall-out between Danny Rose and Jose Mourinho has been played down but with Euro 2020 coming up - the full-back is in need of game time.

So far under Mourinho, Rose has not been in favour, and The Telegraph claim that Newcastle are to offer him an 'escape route.'

With Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett out for the season - Steve Bruce admitted he was looking to sort a short term solution out.

Portuguese media are reporting that NUFC are looking at Ricardo Horta of Braga.

The original claim from Ojogo suggested that a bid in the region of £10m might be enough for NUFC, or any other buyer, to clinch Ricardo Horta.

But Sport Witness say that the winger’s release clause is between €25m-€30m.

Horta actually scored against NUFC in a pre-season friendly back in August 2018.

Newcastle were said to have sent scouts to watch Moussa Dembele earlier this month, and now the Daily Star reports that Steve Bruce would 'love to compete' for the Lyon striker.

Foot Mercato report that Newcastle are ready to battle Lyon for the £10 million rated Cody Gakpo.

The PSV winger - who is just 20 - has impressed this season netting four goals, and setting up a further five in just 18 appearances.

Le10Sport claim that NUFC are considering a move for Karl Toko-Ekambi.

Spanish Villarreal are willing to sell, according to the report, but for no less than £21 million.

Lyon are said to have already had a bit of around half of that knocked back this month.

He's hit 24 goals in 64 games for the Spanish club.

Newcastle alongside Aston Villa have been credited with an interest in the AC Milan striker who has failed to find the form of last season which earned him a move to the San Siro.

Just four goals this season, and with the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Milan are ready to cash in.

But according to, the forward doesn't want to move to Newcastle, or Aston Villa but wants a project 'more to his liking.'

10.01.20 - Inter Milan poised to sign Chelsea striker.

Newcastle were credited with an interest in the 33-year-old striker who has struggled for game time at Chelsea.

The Magpies were linked with a loan move, and while the Frenchman's camp seem open to that possibility, Chelsea are unlikely to let any striker leave without a replacement.

The same goes for Michy Batshuayi.

10.01.20 - Steve Bruce admitted he likes the forward but a deal was some way off.

Ademola Lookman wants the move to NUFC - as Lee Ryder reports.

RB Leipzig, the forward's current side, also are ready to let him go out on loan but want an fee agreed that would be payable in the summer.

15.01.20 - Joins Spurs on an 18th month deal

Newcastle United have been linked with a shock move for Benfica's Gedson Fernandes.

The 20-year-old is reportedly in talks with FOUR Premier League clubs - with Manchester United one of them.

The Mail Online report that Newcastle United are considering joining the race for the youngster.

Benfica are said to be open to sending Fernandes out on loan for 18 months that would include an option to buy.

10.01.20 - Cenk Tosun signs on loan for Crystal Palace

Reports from Turkish media outlet TRT Sport claim that NUFC along with Crystal Palace are considering a loan move for Everton striker Cenk Tosun.

It’s claimed that the 28-year-old, who moved to Goodison Park two years ago for £27 million, has rejected a move to Germany.

The former Besiktas forward has only played 47 times in that time but has netted 10 goals.

The report stated that Tosun is determined to stay in the Premier League

Il Corriere report Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign on-loan Roma forward Nikola Kalinic as the Serie A giants look to facilitate a move for Real Madrid’s Mariano Diaz.

The 31-year-old Croatia international is set to return to parent club Atletico Madrid in January and has reportedly already turned down moves to Hellas Verona and Genoa.

Kalinic has found game-time hard to come by at Roma but has enjoyed spells at Fiorentina and AC Milan in recent years.

Newcastle are known to be interested in a new forward and could facilitate a loan move in the January transfer window. It remains to be seen if Kalinic fits that bill.

Following his exploits in Brazil - where’s he’s on loan - several teams have been credited with an interest.

Italian media claim that West Ham are leading the race ahead of Crystal Palace - there is no mention of NUFC.

Tuttosport report that Inter have failed to reach an agreement with Flamengo over a permanent move for the Brazilian, with negotiations at a ‘standstill’.

The player isn’t that keen on a return to Brazil permanently and is instead ‘looking to the Premier League’.

With that in mind, West Ham ‘seem to have made progress on Crystal Palace’ although the newspaper does not mention if negotiations are underway about a potential deal.

Lewis Holgate (Everton)

Newcastle have been credited with an interest in Holgate three times in the last 24 hours, in the Sun on Sunday, the Athletic and via Football Insider.

The 23-year-old centre-back has been a key man for Everton in Duncan Ferguson's two games as interim boss but there's a feeling he could be up for sale with competition from Seamus Coleman for first team football.

His contract is up in 2020 but Newcastle, Sheffield United and Bournemouth are all 'monitoring' the defender.

He would tick United's box in terms of age and potential - although Everton might be loathe to lose him, especially as he's in-form at the moment.

According to talkSPORT Newcastle United are leading the race for Macauley Bonne.

The Charlton striker has hit six goals in the Championship this season and is said to be interesting Leicester City and Fulham too.

He only joined Charlton in summer for £200,000 from Leyton Orient.

According to L’Equipe, Newcastle, Leicester and Celtic have been scouting 20-year-old winger Stephane Diarra.

Diarra has scored three times in 16 games for Ligue 2 outfit Le Mans this season and has attempted the third most dribbles of any players in the division.

The report claims the three clubs have scouted Diarra ‘intensely’.

20.01.20 - Signs for Aston Villa

14.11.19: Reports claim that Mbwana Samatta has told reporters that he is not aware of any interest form either NUFC or West Ham.

He's on international duty with Tanzania, and was questioned as he landed at the airport.


Newcastle United are tracking Genk striker Mbwana Samatta, according to the BBC’s Ian Dennis.

The 26-year-old is said to have a release clause of £10 million.

He’s scored six goals this season, adding to his total of 32 from last year.

West Ham also said to be interested.

The Times reports that Newcastle are weighing up a winter move for Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka.

The report claims Xhaka would be a loan move and Newcastle would offer to pay a percentage of the player's £130,000 wage - with United's wage ceiling for new signings pushed by Miguel Almiron's £80,000-a-week wage.

The Swiss midfielder was stripped of the captaincy this week after storming from the pitch after being substituted - he appeared to swear at his own fans. He was further annoyed at the club for putting his Instagram statement in the club programme this week, and adding an introductory sentence.

With Euro 2020 on the horizon, the selling point is said to be the offer of first-team football.

The Express report that Newcastle United have been monitoring Metz forward Habib Diallo.

The 24-year-old has scored seven goals in 11 games.

The Senegalese international is thought to be rated at around £7 million.

Reports in Italy claim that Newcastle United are monitoring 15-year-old Degnand Wilfried Gnonto.

The Inter Milan youngster has impressed and Inter News claim that Arsenal and the Magpies are considering a move for the defender.

The claim goes onto state Inter are looking to offer him a contract to stave off interest.

It's claimed that NUFC scouted 21-year-old Alex Kral over the weekend as Spartak Moscow beat Lokomotiv Moscow 3-0.

The defensive midfielder shone for the Czech Republic last month against England - and has several Premier League admirers according to report.

He only moved to Spartak in the summer for €11m.

Claims from north of the border report that United are 'closing in' on a deal for 16-year-old Reagan Thomson.

The Daily Record claim that United have opened talks over the youngster and are close to agreeing a 'substantial fee' for the player, and could see a move completed for January.

Papiss Cisse (Alanyaspor)

A report in Teamtalk on Monday, October 28 claimed Cisse's agent was ringing round Premier League clubs offering the striker's services - with Newcastle one of the clubs invited to bid.

But the report was quickly knocked down by the club and sources close to the player, who suggested there has been no contact with United.

A good blast of nostalgia on a grim Monday maybe, but this isn't going to happen anytime soon.

In October there were claims from Germany that NUFC made a summer bid for Jean-Philippe Mateta.

SportBild claim that United were one of eight clubs who made a move - the Magpies’ bid totalling €28m.

The forward hasn’t played this season after undergoing an operation.

Ugurcan Cakir (Trabzonspor)

Turkish outlet 61 Saat namechecked United as one of four clubs who had sent "observers" to watch 23-year-old goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

The Trabzonspor stopper has also been watched by Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs according to the website - although the quality of Turkish transfer rumours is notoriously sketchy.

Although Newcastle are monitoring a wide range of players - including goalkeepers - at the moment, they are also considering a possible succession plan which would see Freddie Woodman take over from Martin Dubravka, who is close to signing a new contract.

Cakir has been impressing in the Super Lig recently and has a single cap for his country.

Lewis Gibson (Everton)

Newcastle United are being tipped to re-sign Gibson, the promising centre-back, in the summer when he is out of contract.

The 19-year-old left the club to join Everton in a £6million deal and was part of the England under-17 side which won the World Cup. But, according to the Daily Mail, he has grown frustrated at a lack of first team football after two years starring for the under-23s.

He is close to the Longstaff brothers and has seen the pair progress. The Liverpool Echo confirmed his progress is "at a crossroads" and he may re-assess his options in the summer, when Newcastle would be ready to move again.

Longstaff is still on the radar of Manchester United, according to national reports.

The Daily Star claim that MUFC’s Ed Woodward believes they can get Sean Longstaff to Old Trafford in the winter for just £40m.


MUFC also want to add some steel to their midfield and are preparing to launch a fresh bid to land rising Magpies star Longstaff.

Longstaff, 21, has had an up and down season but has been earmarked as a future England international.

MUFC enquired about Longstaff in the summer but were put off by the Magpies’ asking price of around £55m.

But Woodward believes the current crisis on Tyneside could persuade the troubled club to cash in on Longstaff in January and agree to sell him for around £40m.

September 24th: Julen Lopetegui is reportedly ready to allow NUFC target Rony Lopes to leave Sevilla this January.

The Spanish club paid €25m for the creative player last month but GOL Digital report he’ll be allowed to move on in the winter.

Lopes is someone United have scouted ahead of the window.

August 2019: Moves to Sevilla

August 7th: L'Equipe claim that Lopes is being 'courted' by Newcastle United as well as Everton and West Ham.

Monaco’s Rony Lopes is of interest to Newcastle United, according L’Equipe. He’ll cost between €25-30m, and the likes of Everton and West Ham have also been credited with an interest.
