Newcastle are one of several Premier League clubs interested in signing Liverpool striker Divock Origi, a report from The Mirror has claimed.

According to the latest reports, Steve Bruce’s side are one of several Premier League clubs – along with Aston Villa, Brighton and Fulham – who are interested in signing the 25-year-old.

It is thought that the Premier League champions would be willing to let the striker leave for £14million this summer, with the prospect of a loan move with an obligation to buy also said to have been mooted.

The Magpies have already signed one striker this summer with Callum Wilson joining from Bournemouth, although it seems there attacking recruitment may not be over for this summer just yet.

Last season, Origi scored six goals in 41 appearances in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side last season, although the majority of those outings were from the bench, with the striker largely used as a backup behind the front three of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

With the rest Callum Wilson was given for the cup game with Blackburn on Tuesday night highlighting the struggles Newcastle could face without him this season, it does seem as though this could be a sensible move for the Magpies to make.

Despite that, Liverpool are only expected to let Origi leave this summer if they can find a replacement for the Belgian, and with four years remaining on the striker’s Anfield contract, there is little pressure on the Merseyside club to sell any time soon.
