Darren Eales has backed Miguel Almiron to come good after a difficult start to life in England with Newcastle.

Eales is right; we just have to be patient with Almiron, and he will come good I am sure of it.

Almiron cost £20m in January and arrived with a lot of excitement around him, and even though he has not scored or assisted in 18 Premier League games, many Newcastle fans recognise his importance to the team.

Eales, a former Tottenham director, was adamant that as soon as Almiron gets a goal, he will be away.

Almiron is starting to receive criticism from elements of the media and some pundits, but many Newcastle fans are sticking behind him because they can clearly see he is a talented player, and as long as he keeps starting matches, the goals and assists will come.

Almiron last season transformed the way Newcastle attacked, and he freed up space for Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon.

This is because, according to Atlanta’s president, the Paraguayan took some time to adapt to life in the US.
