Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he is reluctant to start Paul Pogba after the midfielder was benched for Manchester United's clash with Newcastle United on Boxing Day.

Pogba had been sidelined since September with an ankle injury but made his return in the second half of United's 2-0 defeat to Watford last Sunday.

The World Cup winner was expected to start for United's fixture at home to Newcastle but was only named as a substitute.

Solskjaer admits he wants to avoid rushing Pogba back too soon.

'Andreas and Mason have done well, they'll give us fresh legs,' Solskjaer told MUTV. More: Football.

'Paul, I think it's too early to demand too much from him.

'So we'll have to drip-feed him in and play gradually more and more.
