RB Leipzig chief speaks out about Ademola Lookman’s future after ‘loan bid’ from NUFC

RB Leipzig’s Managing Director Oliver Mitzlaff has insisted that Newcastle target Ademola Lookman will NOT be leaving on loan this month.

This comes from the his interview with Sky Germany today, appearing to rule out any chance of him arriving on Tyneside on a straight loan deal until the end of the season.

“So we will certainly not loan him out.” Considering they paid £22m to sign the England U-21 talent from Everton just last summer, it’s not surprise to hear they aren’t keen to loan him out this soon.

After local reporters said ‘positive noises’ were coming out of Germany regarding his potential move to St James’ Park, this deal isn’t looking quite so likely after these comments from Mitzlaff.

Here’s what he’s had to say about the 22-year-old’s future in the last few moments: “Ademola Lookman is a player who’s already proven to us that he has a lot of quality.

That said, MD Oliver Mitzlaff sounds adamant that Lookman is a player they value highly – meaning it could take an offer we’re not prepared to make to prise him away from the Bundesliga leaders this month.

If so, perhaps they are only be willing to loan him out if the deal included an ‘obligation’ to buy at the end of the season (for a fee north of the £22m they paid for him last summer).
