Report Names Player Discussed During Transfer Meeting

Steve Bruce and Mike Ashley held their transfer meeting yesterday, in which Steve Bruce reportedly asked the owner for help getting some of his top targets in this month.

The Northern Echo are reporting that a permanent deal for Lookman was proposed by Steve Bruce during yesterday’s meeting.

That’s where Mike Ashley would come in.

One of those is RB Leipzig winger Ademola Lookman who Newcastle are struggling to prise away from the Bundesliga team.

While Lookman looks the part in terms of the profile for a permanent signing, the £22.5m Leipzig want to recoup for their summer signing is quite a steep one.

If Newcastle really want the 22-year-old, they will have to pay at least the £22.5m Leipzig paid for the winger this summer.

With Almiron having found his groove in front of the net recently as well as Allan Saint-Maximin primed for a return, Mike Ashley may well think a permanent deal for Lookman is unnecessary.
