Newcastle United plan to support Steve Bruce in the January transfer window, with recruitment planning already under way at St James’ Park.

Steve Nickson has begun the process of compiling target lists with United looking at midfield options and also potential forward additions.

The Magpies have around eight figure sum left from their summer transfer budget and will support Head Coach Bruce in the mid-season window if they feel a player capable of adding to the squad within their recruitment remit emerges.

There could also be further under-23 recruitment, with the club hoping to boost options at that level.

Land at Strawberry Place was sold by the club for £9million and will be developed into housing and MP Chi Onwurah this week Tweeted about the issue, raising the question of whether that money has gone back into the club.

As reported previously, there’s plenty of interest in buying Newcastle with groups across Europe but none are ready to move at Ashley’s current asking price.

The Newcastle United Supporters Trust have submitted a five-page objection to the controversial Strawberry Place development, which is attracting fresh attention from supporter groups.
