Steve Bruce has confirmed the club are planning to pursue a permanent deal for Danny Rose once his loan move from Spurs expires.

The Newcastle boss got his man in January, appearing to beat several Premier League sides to sign the England left-back on loan, however he’s revealed today that he’s planning to extend his stay this summer.

“When he walked through the door gave everybody a lift.

Here’s what he’s told the Chronicle about the 29-year-old, stating he’s a “quality player” who “gave everybody a lift” when he arrived a few months ago: “We managed to get him through the door and he will be great for the next three months.

As he states in the final line, he clearly feels Rose is the exact calibre of player he’s aspiring to sign this summer – however the completion of this deal could boil down to Tottenham’s asking price.

His current contract at Spurs is due to expire in 12 months time, but the Chronicle have revealed in the same report that the North London club were demanding £20m for any permanent deal back in January.

Considering he turns 30 this summer and will be on big wages, history tells us Mike Ashley won’t be willing to spend too much, with this being the same man who refused to pay £16.5m for Salomon Rondon after his superb season at St James’ Park.
