Steve Bruce has revealed he is prepared to cram games into an action-packed May and June in order for the Premier League to be completed.

"We can have a Festival of Football month, games every day, teams playing two or three games a week.

With a host of non-league seasons thrown into the trash can of football history, the Premier League's fate remains undecided, although sources close to top-flight chiefs insist the 2019/20 campaign will have a conclusion.

Newcastle United manager Bruce said today: "We have to try to get this season finished, whatever that takes.

Bruce said: "It probably means the start of next season will be delayed, we’ll probably have to scrap one of the cup competitions and do without a winter break, but it can be done.

Suggestions of playing games behind closed doors at neutral venues have been discussed in the past week or so.

Bruce stated to the Chronicle last week that a pre-season style reboot would be required for his squad if the season gets back under way.
