If the Premier League season does not manage to resume in the summer because of the coronavirus pandemic, then Newcastle must move ahead in the transfer window and try to strengthen the side.

But the Geordie manager has an opportunity this summer to bring in the right players, and then take Newcastle up a notch.

Manager Steve Bruce could bring players in on loan for the season, and we managed to get three good players on loan in January, and Jetro Willems for the season – and all four are good players who strengthened the squad.

We miss Rafa Benitez a lot, but until he returns to Newcastle under a new owner, Steve Bruce can do a good job for his hometown club.

It’s time for me to take my dog, Milo, on his long walk with a lot of sniffs and pees – the dog – that is.

Steve Bruce wants a box-to-box midfielder, but Boubakary Soumare may be too expensive (at £35M) if funds are short, and it could rule out going back in for 21-year-old Lille playmaker.

We’ve always known that Steve Bruce (shown above) is experienced and very sensible in the transfer market, and he’s almost the perfect manager for current owner Mike Ashley.
