After claims today that Peter Kenyon is now appealing to investors to put as little as £1m into the mix to help him raise takeover funds, I am really starting to question if he is capable of taking on Newcastle United.

One of these days Newcastle fans will wake up to good news for once, surely…

It will be interesting to see where we are on January 29th, when we host Manchester City.

Obviously he’d upgrade on Ashley, but he and his current investors sound desperately low on cash, making me wonder how on earth he’d be able to back Benitez IF he did find the funds to complete a takeover in the first place.

It makes depressing reading for Newcastle fans – as the last thing we want is to finally get rid of Mike Ashley, only to be left scraping round the bargain basement for players still.

It could be pivotal for Ashley and boycotts if we have no progress on the takeover or new signings by then, which being totally honest, looks unlikely now on both fronts.

A new owner who lacks funds wouldn’t help us progress or keep Rafa Benitez at the club.
