On Sunday, it was reported that Newcastle were tracking Carlisle center-back Jarrad Branthwaite.
Apparently, as part of the Elias Sorensen loan deal, Newcastle have the right of first refusal on the youngster.
Jarrad Branthwaite also missed the FA Cup match with a virus.
We are not sure of what impact recalling Sorensen could have on any deal for Jarrad Branthwaite, but Newcastle need to do what’s best for the youngster’s development.
The 17-year-old has broken into the Carlisle first-team over the past six weeks and is now part of their starting center-back pairing.
The news is not as good on the loan spell for the 20-year-old Sorensen, however.
Carlisle travel to face Morecambe on Saturday, which is where Jarrad Branthwaite scored his debut goal in the EFL Trophy earlier this season.
