West Brom would love Dwight Gayle back but Newcastle have named big fee

DWIGHT GAYLE will not be leaving Newcastle United in January - unless his suitors come up with a fee of more than £10m.

Magpies boss Steve Bruce is a big admirer of the 29-year-old and wants to give him a chance to shine at some stage this season.

Andy Carroll and Gayle are currently the challengers to Joelinton for a first team lace up front.

Newcastle, though, have made it clear that they are in no rush to let Gayle go and certainly not on loan.

That is why Bruce will not let him leave on the cheap and West Brom and Nottingham Forest, two clubs pushing for promotion this season, had hoped to do business in January.

For the St James’ Park club to be tempted then West Brom and Forest would have to make an offer in the region of £15m to land him permanently.

Gayle has struggled to get in to the team since returning from last season’s successful loan to West Bromwich Albion because he picked up a and calf injury in pre-season.
