Sunday night, Yohan Cabaye has unexpectedly become a free agent - A short-term move back to Newcastle United?

Knocking back a new Palace deal after making 31 Premier League appearances for them in 2017/18, Yohan Cabaye instead signed a two year deal with the Arabian Gulf League side.

Yohan Cabaye is now a free agent and able to sign for another club, so would a move to Newcastle United be good for both player and club?

The former Newcastle United midfielder saw his contract end in the summer at Crystal Palace and chose to move to Arabian Gulf League side Al Nasr.

They are on a mid-season break currently and on Sunday night Al Nasr dramatically announced that they had come to an agreement to release Yohan Cabaye only months into his two year deal.

In two weeks time it will be exactly five years since Mike Ashley pocketed £20m when selling Yohan Cabaye to PSG.

With any chance of paying sizeable money for players seeming as far away as ever, plus Newcastle having already their quota of loan players from other Premier League clubs, surely a short-term move until the end of the season for Yohan Cabaye should be backed if Rafa wants to go for it.
